“Difficult Decisions in Dangerous Times:
Hope and Agency during the Armenian Genocide”
In this archived webinar, hosted live on April 22 by the LA County Office of Education, GenEd presents an approach to teaching about the Armenian Genocide in a way that incorporates lessons that will engage students during the current COVID crises.
Today’s uncertainty and instability provide an opportunity to teach about the profound transformative power of hope and agency – taking individual and cooperative action to affect positive change.
In this 1.5 hour webinar, educators are introduced to the concept of genocide, a brief history of the Armenian cause, and then are provided example lessons about personal choices made by common citizens during genocides and major crises that are relatable to students’ own lives, as well as personal and community actions to memorialize such crises.
